A Venezuelan citizen has been sentenced for unlawful possession of a firearm after admitting he sold a pistol while living in the United States without legal status, the U.S. Department of Justice reported.
The defendant, identified as Molina-Camacho, sold a Hi-Point CF380 pistol to another person in August 2025, according to the Justice Department. The .380-caliber handgun changed hands for $500.
At the time of the sale, the Justice Department said, Molina-Camacho had been residing in the country without legal authorization for approximately one year. He acknowledged knowing that his immigration status prohibited him from having a firearm in his possession.
The Justice Department confirmed that Molina-Camacho entered a guilty plea and was subsequently sentenced on the unlawful possession charge. The case centers on his admission that he transferred the weapon despite being aware his undocumented status made doing so a federal offense.
