A repeat felon from Columbus, Ohio, pleaded guilty to a firearms charge on the same day his jury trial was scheduled to begin, the U.S. Department of Justice said.
The plea was entered in U.S. District Court in Columbus. According to the Justice Department, the trial had been set to start on a Monday, and the defendant entered his guilty plea before proceedings could get underway.
The Justice Department identified the defendant as a repeat felon. The charge to which he admitted guilt was firearms-related, the agency said.
