Ukraine's civilian casualties reached their worst monthly level since 2022 during the first half of 2026, the UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine said on July 14, 2026.
The mission, known as the HRMMU, attributed the surge to an escalation in Russian attacks and a more intensive use of deadly weapons over the same period, United Nations News reported.
Among the weapons documented, drones were used to target civilians, with the HRMMU's findings describing them as hunting civilians.
