Two sculptures stolen from Indonesia and dating to the 8th century are being repatriated, Jay Clayton, the federal prosecutor heading the Southern District of New York, announced, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.

The Justice Department said antiquities dealer Douglas Latchford transferred the pieces to an American collector, identified in the case only as "the Collector." The sculptures had been taken through an organized looting network that targeted Indonesian cultural property.

Clayton's office secured the return of both works to the Republic of Indonesia. The two pieces, roughly 1,300 years old, were removed from Indonesia by a trafficking network before passing through Latchford's hands to the unnamed American collector.
