Federal prosecutors have charged two Seattle-area men in connection with a string of pharmacy burglaries spanning the Puget Sound region, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.
A 24-count indictment was filed against the pair following an investigation into multiple pharmacy break-ins. Charles Neil Floyd, who holds the title of First Assistant United States Attorney, announced the charges.
The crimes stretched across a wide corridor of Washington state. The northernmost point of the alleged activity was Kirkland, a city in Washington state. The southernmost was Chehalis, also in Washington state, placing the geographic range of the alleged burglaries at well over 100 miles apart.
The indictment covers pharmacies across the Puget Sound region, the Justice Department said. Both defendants are from the Seattle area, and the case grew out of a federal investigation into the pattern of break-ins at pharmacy locations throughout that stretch of the state.
The 24-count indictment remains the formal charging document in the case.
