A federal grand jury has indicted two Pueblo, Colorado, residents on charges spanning bank robbery, carjacking, and multiple firearm offenses, the U.S. Department of Justice announced.
The defendants are Mario Lucero, 49, and Esai Maestas Torres, 24, both of Pueblo. According to the U.S. Department of Justice, the indictment was brought by a federal grand jury operating under Colorado's federal jurisdiction.
Each man faces 8 counts in total. The U.S. Department of Justice said each defendant is charged with 1 count of bank robbery, 3 counts of carjacking, and 3 counts related to displaying a firearm during a violent crime. Each also faces 1 count of possessing ammunition as a prohibited person.
The charges were announced by the Colorado-based U.S. attorney's office, the Justice Department reported. Lucero and Maestas Torres each face the same set of 8 federal counts stemming from the alleged robbery and carjacking conduct.
