A man from Gardner, Massachusetts will enter a guilty plea on charges of opioid tampering at a healthcare facility in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.

The Justice Department said the case is being prosecuted out of Boston. The defendant, a Gardner resident, is accused of interfering with oxycodone supplies at the Fitchburg facility. The oxycodone in question was designated for patients receiving hospice and memory care services.

According to the U.S. Department of Justice, the man has agreed to a guilty plea on the tampering charge. The affected patients were among the most vulnerable, relying on the opioid medication as part of their care. The prosecution is being handled through the Boston office, the Justice Department reported.
