Sixteen foreign nationals were convicted of federal immigration crimes during June, the U.S. Department of Justice announced.

U.S. Attorney John P. Heekin made the public announcement covering the convictions. All sixteen individuals had been in the country illegally at the time of the offenses, according to the Department of Justice.

The cases are connected to two Florida cities. Pensacola is among the locations tied to the announcement, and Tallahassee is also listed, per the Department of Justice.

All sixteen convictions were secured within the single calendar month of June, the Department of Justice reported. The charges in each case fell under federal immigration law. John P. Heekin serves as the United States Attorney responsible for the district covering those cities.
