A 46-year-old Honduran national has been convicted of unlawfully reentering the United States, the U.S. Department of Justice reported. The defendant had been residing in Corpus Christi without legal status at the time of the case.

According to the Justice Department, the conviction stemmed from the defendant's illegal return to the country following a prior removal. The case also involved the defendant fleeing from a law enforcement trooper, the Justice Department said.

The Justice Department confirmed that the defendant, a citizen of Honduras, was 46 years old and had been living in Corpus Christi illegally before the prosecution. The conviction on the reentry charge followed the incident in which the defendant ran from a trooper.
