NASA's James Webb Space Telescope has captured an infrared image of the FS Tau star system, bringing previously hidden details into view for the first time.

The FS Tau system contains thick dust that had blocked earlier observations of its features, NASA said. The new image reveals numerous aspects of the system that were impossible to see before. Multiple background galaxies are also visible in the same frame, according to NASA.

NASA released the image in connection with the United States' 250th anniversary celebrations.

The Webb telescope is operated by NASA, which said the infrared image of FS Tau exposes features that the system's dense dust had long concealed.
