Three earthquakes struck the central Mid-Atlantic Ridge on October 13, 2026, with the two largest arriving simultaneously and prompting a tsunami warning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The first quake, magnitude 6.7, hit at 05:44:46 UTC. Its epicenter was at 0.169°N, 19.860°W, at a depth of 10.00 km (6.21 mi), the USGS said.

About 6.5 hours later, at 12:23:07 UTC, two more quakes struck within the same second. The USGS recorded one at magnitude 6.8, with an epicenter at 0.196°S, 19.231°W, also at 10.00 km (6.21 mi) depth. The other registered magnitude 6.9, with its epicenter at 0.402°S, 19.415°W and the same 10.00 km (6.21 mi) depth.

The Tsunami Warning Center issued an alert tied to the magnitude 6.9 event, which the USGS linked in its report for that quake. All three epicenters lie near the equator at roughly 19°W longitude.
