U.S. press organizations filed a federal lawsuit against President Trump on August 12, 2026, challenging a paid service that grants subscribers faster access to his Truth Social posts.
The case was brought in federal court. At its center is a service operated by Trump's media company that charges customers for early access to the president's posts on the platform. NPR reported that Trump Media executives said the service had attracted more than 10 paying customers.
The Financial Times reported that the lawsuit seeks to bar Trump from publishing official government announcements exclusively on Truth Social. NPR said the plaintiffs allege the arrangement violates the Constitution.
