The U.S. Department of Defense has launched the Build Freedom Initiative at the Pentagon, awarding television host Mike Rowe a $10 million contract.
According to the U.S. Department of Defense, the initiative is designed to champion skilled trades. Michael Duffey, who serves as undersecretary of war for acquisition and sustainment, presented the $10 million check to Rowe at the launch event. Michael Cadenazzi, the assistant secretary of war whose portfolio covers industrial base policy, also took part in the presentation.
The Department of Defense said the Build Freedom Initiative was formally stood up at the Pentagon, with Rowe receiving the funds at the event itself. Duffey and Cadenazzi both participated in handing over the check to the television host, the department reported.
