Pennsylvania Army National Guard soldiers completed a ghillie wash exercise at Fort Indiantown Gap, the U.S. Department of Defense reported.
Fort Indiantown Gap is located in Pennsylvania. The Department of Defense said soldiers wore ghillie suits for the duration of the exercise. A ghillie suit is a garment designed to mimic foliage, grass, or natural terrain, making the wearer difficult to distinguish from the surrounding environment, according to the Department of Defense.
The Department of Defense reported that soldiers were subjected to intense physical training while dressed in the suits. The exercise combined the physical demands of rigorous training with the added challenge of wearing the camouflage garments throughout. According to the Department of Defense, the ghillie wash event required soldiers to endure strenuous physical activity in the full suits at the Pennsylvania installation.
