A Longtown, Oklahoma man was sentenced to 13 months in federal prison on July 9, 2026, after pleading guilty to possessing a firearm and ammunition as a convicted felon, the U.S. Department of Justice said.

Russell Jeremy Doctor, 37, entered his guilty plea on October 15, 2025, in federal district court. The Justice Department identified him as a Pittsburg County resident.

Authorities found Doctor in possession of a semi-automatic rifle and 8 rounds of ammunition on May 4, 2025. He had a prior conviction for an offense carrying a potential sentence of more than one year, which barred him from legally holding a firearm.

The Eastern District of Oklahoma's federal prosecutors announced the sentencing from Muskogee, Oklahoma.
