NVIDIA and Hugging Face are working together to bring new models and frameworks to LeRobot, an open-source robotics platform, according to NVIDIA.
The collaboration is aimed at the open robotics community, NVIDIA said. Both companies are contributing models and development frameworks to the platform as part of the joint effort.
NVIDIA said open-source AI has driven rapid developer innovation by making models, data, and tools widely available, and that robotics presents a comparable opportunity for that kind of shared progress. Physical AI development, however, can be slowed by resources that are costly or fragmented across the field, the company said.
According to NVIDIA, several categories of resources create barriers for developers working on physical AI. Large datasets, robot foundation models, simulation tools, compute resources, and validation tools are each cited by NVIDIA as areas where cost or fragmentation can hinder advancement.
The two companies' work on LeRobot is intended to address those gaps for the open robotics community, NVIDIA said. By pooling new models and frameworks into the platform, the collaboration seeks to make those resources more accessible to developers building physical AI systems.
