A man from Northampton will spend 35 years in federal prison after being convicted on multiple gas station robbery charges, the U.S. Department of Justice announced.
The defendant had a prior felony conviction at the time of the offenses, according to the Justice Department. Federal prosecutors pursued the case, and the court imposed the 35-year term following the conviction on the robbery counts.
The Justice Department confirmed that the crimes involved a series of gas station robberies. Northampton is where the defendant resided before the case proceeded through the federal court system.
The 35-year federal sentence was the punishment handed down, the Justice Department reported.
