A federal grand jury has indicted Carlos Alvaro Canjura Ventura, a 44-year-old Jacksonville, Florida resident, on charges tied to child sexual abuse material, the U.S. Department of Justice announced.

The indictment, announced by U.S. Attorney Gregory W. Kehoe, carries two counts. According to the Justice Department, one count covers the production of such material, while a second count addresses an attempt to produce it.

Ventura was arrested on December 18, 2025. The Justice Department said that arrest was connected to a parallel state-level case. He has since been detained in the federal matter.

If convicted, Ventura faces a mandatory minimum of 15 years in federal prison, the Justice Department reported. The maximum term is 30 years. A lifetime of supervised release is also possible under the charges.

His federal trial is set for September 8, 2026, per the Justice Department. Ventura resides in Jacksonville, Florida, and the indictment was returned by a grand jury seated in that city.
