The European Commission issued a joint statement on Thursday, July 10, 2026, commemorating the 31st anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide, which falls on July 11.

The statement was signed by High Representative and Vice-President Kallas alongside Commissioner Kos. It acknowledged the more than 8,300 Bosniak men and boys killed in Srebrenica in July 1995.

The Commission said Europe pays tribute to the memory of those who died. It also expressed solidarity with families still uncertain about the fate of missing loved ones, and affirmed that the institution continues to stand by survivors.
