Craneware discloses data theft affecting hospitals and pharmacies

Craneware, a healthcare software company serving more than 2,000 U.S. hospitals, told investors on July 20, 2026 that hackers broke into part of its data environment and stole both employee and customer records. The company is headquartered in Edinburgh, Scotland, and listed on London's AIM market, according to The Record.

TechCrunch reported that Craneware's software is also used by U.S. pharmacies and clinics, primarily for patient billing, and that the breach potentially exposed health data. A significant volume of data was taken in the attack.

Craneware brought in outside forensic investigators after discovering the intrusion, The Record said.
