A Cornell University student's sworn police statement and records from fraternity members have disclosed new details about her 2024 allegation that she was gang-raped and drugged at a fraternity house, NBC News reported. No criminal charges have been filed in the case.
NBC News obtained the sworn statement, which described an incident lasting several hours. The student told police she had been given drugs during the assault. Seven fraternity brothers are named as defendants in a civil lawsuit she filed related to the alleged attack.
One of the seven defendants said he was in the room where the assault allegedly occurred for only a brief time and did not see the accuser showing signs of distress. The student, for her part, told investigators she had consumed multiple substances and was impaired during the incident.
ABC News reported that the absence of criminal charges has drawn public criticism and generated online speculation about how Cornell University and law enforcement have handled the matter.
