A small plane carrying U.S. Representative Tom Tiffany made an emergency landing on a Wisconsin lake on September 13, 2026, after a mechanical failure left the pilot no choice but to set down on the water, BBC News reported.
Tiffany, who represents Wisconsin in Congress, was a passenger on the aircraft. When the plane began to sink, he climbed on top of it alongside the pilot, NPR reported. The two called 911 from that position before Tiffany entered the water and swam to shallow ground.
Neither Tiffany nor the pilot was reported injured in the incident.
