The White House issued a proclamation restricting imports of commercial aircraft, jet engines, and related components, citing national security concerns under Section 232.
The action followed a report from the Secretary of Commerce examining how those imports affect U.S. national security. The review covered commercial aircraft as well as jet engines and their associated parts, and was conducted under the Section 232 statutory framework.
The White House said the Secretary's report was transmitted within the 90 days preceding the proclamation's issuance.
