A van drove into a crowd attending a Pride event in central Berlin on the night of July 25, 2026, killing one person and injuring at least 16 others, the Financial Times reported.

Berlin police launched an intensive manhunt after the attack. NPR reported that officers were searching for one or two suspects, and that one suspect known to police had been identified. That suspect has links to Islamist circles, NPR said.

The BBC placed the incident in Berlin's city centre. No motive has been stated by authorities.

Berlin's mayor called it an "attack on our free and open society."
