At least 300 children in Gaza have died since a ceasefire took effect last October, the United Nations Children's Fund reported on Wednesday, August 6, 2026.
The ceasefire was designed to stop armed hostilities between Hamas and the Israel Defense Forces. United Nations News reported that UNICEF's count of children killed now equals the number of days that have passed since the agreement came into force: 300.
UNICEF said the deaths occurred despite the halt in fighting.
