Independent investigators appointed by the UN Human Rights Council concluded on September 17, 2026, that there are reasonable grounds to believe the United States committed war crimes against Iranian civilians, United Nations News reported.
The attacks struck two civilian sites, a school and a residential area in Iran. The investigators characterized the strikes as indiscriminate, directed at civilian locations.
The council appointed the experts specifically to examine the attacks, UN News said. Their inquiry produced the "reasonable grounds" determination now before the council.
