Two Massachusetts men were sentenced to probation and fines on October 1, 2026, after pleading guilty to detonating a large commercial firework inside a building on the Harvard Medical School campus, the U.S. Department of Justice said.

A federal court in Boston imposed the sentences. Neither man received jail time, according to ABC News.

The building was empty when the firework went off, ABC News reported. The men had pleaded guilty to conspiring to damage a building on the campus before the sentencing took place.
