President Donald J. Trump met with mining industry leaders on Friday, August 7, 2026, at a roundtable the White House described as historic, with participants committing more than $2 billion to new mining and mining-related projects across the United States.

The White House said the investments are intended to revitalize the American mining industry. Separately, mining schools are set to receive more than $180 million in new funding, directed at growing the domestic mining workforce.

The administration has also made the supply chains for critical materials a domestic priority, according to the White House.
