Irish novelist Sally Rooney said she is withdrawing her books from sale in the United Kingdom, citing her public support for Palestine Action, a banned direct-action group, which she said makes it legally impossible for her to accept royalties from British sales.
Rooney, whose novels include "Normal People" and "Conversations With Friends," had pledged those royalties to Palestine Action, NPR reported. The group is described as pro-Palestinian and has been banned, according to The Guardian.
The Guardian also reported that Rooney cancelled a planned trip to the UK out of fear of arrest. Her announcement came on or before October 14, 2026.
