Sergei Anatolyevich Filimonov, a 36-year-old Russian web developer, was arraigned on September 4, 2026, in the Northern District of Georgia on federal charges of fraud and aggravated identity theft, the U.S. Department of Justice said.
Filimonov was brought to the United States after being extradited from the Republic of Georgia. Prosecutors allege he took part in a transnational conspiracy centered on large-scale bank account takeovers that caused millions of dollars in losses, according to the Justice Department.
