A pregnant woman was pulled alive from the ruins of a 12-story apartment building in La Guaira, Venezuela, after two powerful earthquakes brought the structure down in late June 2026, United Nations News reported.

The building failed in a pancake-style collapse, with each floor falling onto the one below. The disaster set off widespread panic as rescue teams worked to reach people who were injured or still trapped in the debris.

"I consider it a miracle," an unidentified survivor or rescuer said, according to UN News.

La Guaira sits on Venezuela's northern coast. The rescue of the pregnant woman was reported by July 20, 2026.
