A Palmetto resident has been sentenced to 24 months in federal prison for tax evasion, according to the U.S. Department of Justice. The sentencing took place in Tampa, Florida.
U.S. District Judge Charlene E. Honeywell imposed the sentence, the Justice Department said. Terry Brunning was also ordered to pay $2,467,523.44 in restitution to the U.S. Department of the Treasury and will serve 36 months of supervised release upon completing his prison term.
Brunning entered a guilty plea on April 2, 2026, the Justice Department reported. The conviction covers tax evasion across three tax years: 1999, 2000, and 2001.
U.S. Attorney Gregory W. Kehoe announced the case, per the Justice Department. Brunning, a resident of Palmetto, now faces 24 months of incarceration followed by three years of supervised release, along with the restitution obligation of more than $2.4 million owed to the federal treasury.
