The National Science Foundation started a new program on August 4, 2026, to widen access to computing power, data, software, and expertise for AI-driven research and education across the United States.
The program, called the State and Regional AI Infrastructure Hubs, is organized through networks of state and multistate groups. Partners include local and state governments, colleges and universities, private industry, and philanthropic organizations, the NSF said.
Researchers, students, and educators are the primary intended beneficiaries. The NSF said the initiative is designed to accelerate AI-enabled scientific discovery nationwide.
NVIDIA is among the participants. The company said the program aligns with the goals of the Genesis Mission.
