A Richfield, Minnesota man was arrested on October 7, 2026, and charged with illegally acquiring a firearm and ammunition to carry out a mass shooting at the Mall of America in support of ISIS, the U.S. Department of Justice said.
Sheikhdoon Abdullahi Mohamud, 18, faces a single federal count. The Justice Department said the charge covers both the firearm and the ammunition he allegedly obtained for the purpose of committing a federal terrorism offense.
The case was filed by complaint rather than indictment, the Justice Department noted.
