Meta reached an agreement with Mark Zuckerberg on October 22, 2026, tied to a proposed California billionaire wealth tax, according to The Guardian and BBC News.
Zuckerberg had previously said he would leave California if the proposed tax came into force, BBC News reported. The tax has not yet taken effect.
The Guardian said the deal is intended to keep Zuckerberg living in California. Meta, the company behind Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, is headquartered in the state, where Zuckerberg serves as chief executive.
