First Lady Melania Trump brokered a ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine confined to the city of Oleshky, according to the White House. Both sides agreed to halt all military activity in the area temporarily, with the pause set to begin on October 29, 2026.
The White House said the arrangement serves two purposes: delivering humanitarian aid into Oleshky and providing a safe passage corridor for civilians to evacuate. A designated route has been established for that evacuation.
