A two-day federal trial ended with a unanimous guilty verdict against John I. Davis, 47, on drug trafficking conspiracy and weapons charges, the U.S. Department of Justice announced.
Davis is a resident of Denham Springs, Louisiana. The jury found him guilty on two related counts: conspiracy to distribute heroin and conspiracy to possess heroin with intent to distribute. Both counts involved 100 grams or more of the drug, according to the Justice Department.
Judge John W. deGravelles of the U.S. District Court presided over the proceedings, the Justice Department said. Davis faced an additional count of possessing firearms as a convicted felon, and the jury returned a guilty verdict on that charge as well.
U.S. Attorney Kurt L. Wall announced the conviction. The Justice Department confirmed that all charges were resolved against Davis across the two days of trial.
