A major U.S. housing bill became law at midnight without President Trump's signature, after he refused to sign it unless Congress first passed voter ID legislation.
Trump made clear he would not approve the bill, conditioning any signature on Congress enacting what NPR described as a sweeping voter ID measure. The bill took effect automatically when the midnight deadline passed.
BBC News said the legislation is intended to reduce housing costs and increase the supply of homes across the United States.
