U.S. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth met with German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius at the Pentagon on September 15, 2026, and the two agreed to move forward on defense industrial cooperation, the U.S. Department of Defense said.

Their talks covered the defense industrial bases of both countries, the framework known as NATO 3.0, and the question of higher European defense spending. The Department of Defense said all three subjects were on the agenda.
