The Federal Trade Commission sued telehealth company Hims & Hers on July 29, 2026, accusing it of routing patients' sensitive medical information to advertising platforms while publicly claiming to protect user privacy. Utah and California, represented by Los Angeles County Counsel, joined the FTC as co-plaintiffs.
The FTC said Hims & Hers "shared consumers' sensitive health information with third-party advertising platforms such as Meta and Snap despite promising to protect patient privacy." The company, which prescribes treatments related to sexual wellness and mental health, allegedly used website tracking tools to pass customer data to those platforms, according to TechCrunch.
The complaint, as described by The Record, also accuses Hims & Hers of misleading users about its billing and cancellation practices. The health information at issue relates to consumers' medical conditions, the FTC said.
