The U.S. Attorney's Office in Puerto Rico, led by Acting United States Attorney Héctor Ramírez-Carbó, announced guilty plea convictions and prison sentences from drug trafficking prosecutions covering the period from June 29 through July 2, 2026, the Justice Department said.
The announcement was made jointly with partner agencies of the Homeland Security Task Force, an interagency law enforcement body created by executive order. The HSTF's mandate covers cartels, trafficking networks, and foreign terrorist organizations, with transnational criminal organizations as its primary target.
Among the cases, a cocaine trafficking ring operating in the Kansas City metro area was dismantled. The ring had ties to Mexico, the Justice Department said. Fifteen defendants received prison sentences in connection with that case, with the final member of the group being the last to be sentenced.
