Federal officials are investigating a White House teleprompter operator suspected of using advance knowledge of President Trump's speeches to place profitable wagers on prediction markets, the Financial Times and NPR reported on July 16, 2026.
The operator, described as a presidential aide, is alleged to have exploited early access to speech content to trade on what the Financial Times called "mention markets," a category of prediction market tied to what a speaker says.
NPR said this is the first known case of federal officials probing suspected insider trading on a prediction market with origins inside the White House.
