The family of Renee Good filed two federal civil lawsuits on October 1, 2026, against the U.S. government, top Trump administration officials, and an ICE officer over her fatal shooting during immigration raids in Minneapolis in January 2026.

One lawsuit alleges wrongful death and the other alleges excessive force, NBC News reported. The suits were filed approximately nine months after Good was killed by a federal immigration officer.

According to NPR, the shooting occurred during ICE raids in Minneapolis and triggered protests across the United States. Good's family spoke publicly about her death for the first time in connection with the lawsuits.

The cases are before federal court.
