A heatwave is approaching parts of the UK and is forecast to last approximately one week, according to BBC News Science and The Guardian.

The Guardian reports that temperatures are expected to peak at 34C (93F) in south-east England. That same outlet says heat health alerts are now in place across most regions of England, running from Sunday through Saturday.

The Met Office, cited by The Guardian, has forecast temperatures of around 28C (82F) for southern England as early as Saturday. The Guardian also reports that Wales is expected to see rising temperatures during the same period.

BBC News Science said the incoming heatwave is expected to last significantly longer than the previous one. Meteorologist Stav Danaos, per BBC News Science, provided an explanation of the weather system driving the heat.

The Guardian and BBC News Science both confirm that peak temperatures during the event are forecast to reach 34C (93F), with the highest readings concentrated in England's south-east.
