A Department of Energy employee from Richland, Washington, was arrested on October 1, 2026, on a federal charge that he tried to funnel material support to the Houthis, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.
Ashton Hamed Ellaboudy, 51, faces one count tied to the alleged effort to aid the Houthis, whom federal authorities have designated a foreign terrorist organization. Richland is in southeastern Washington State.
Ellaboudy was scheduled to appear before a federal magistrate judge in Richland at 11:00 a.m. on October 2, 2026, the Justice Department said.
