Jay Clayton's confirmation hearing for Director of National Intelligence on July 15, 2026, centered heavily on election security and the 2020 presidential race, with those topics crowding out other subjects, The Record reported.
Senators pressed Clayton on his views of the 2020 election and on prior statements he had made about voter fraud. They also questioned him about his predecessor's appearance at a January raid on an election office, according to CyberScoop.
Clayton declined to give direct answers to several questions about the 2020 race. He did, however, state plainly: "I am not an election denier." Democratic senators left the hearing feeling dismayed, CyberScoop said.
